Why Go for Organic and Locally Grown Produce

The BBC has commented that transporting food is not good for Mother Nature. This is due to the fact that additional logistics efforts and fuel are used to move the said resources, emphasising the need for energy sources that leave heavy carbon footprints. For this reason, it makes ecological sense to opt for foods that are grown locally, especially if it is done so without pesticides and other synthetic substances.

Aside from the environmental aspect, organic, local produce help support a healthy lifestyle as it has lesser amounts of toxic chemicals that can trigger or encourage the development of life-threatening diseases. Not only that, such edibles taste better and are more likely to have increased nutritional values as they are delivered to store shelves and markets within a shorter duration.

Since the produce need not be transported across many miles, they are most likely to be harvested as they ripen on their vines and branches and are sold freshly picked. They also do not go through the rigours of long travel, with bumps, increased contact with biological contaminants, and varied storage conditions affecting their quality and safety.

If you want to safeguard your health, go for natural products and food like those that you can find at Nature’s Way.
