Staying Safe on Your Holiday in England

Rolling countryside, historic buildings, great shopping districts, exciting culinary culture, and farmers' market – these are just some of things that make England popular among tourists. Whether you find yourself in Bristol, Cleveland, Devon, Essex, Lancshire, Leicester or London, there is always something for you in the country. So if ever you're going to create yourself a travel challenge, consider exploring England from north to south, east to west.

No matter where your wanderlust takes you though, always keep safe. Here are a few tips for you:

Plan your route and transport. Spend a few hours planning the safest and desirable route to take as well as what would be the best way to travel. Trains, buses, taxis and registered minicabs are some of your options. Make sure to familiarise yourself with the local traffic rules. Remember that in the UK, cars drive on the left and their designated crossings for pedestrians.

Stay in safe places and avoid or be on guard when in crime hotspots. The latter includes London's Westfield shopping centre and Meridian Square and Croydon's Valley Park located behind IKEA – a magnet for rubbers, muggers and thieves.

Know the emergency service and healthcare number. In event of an accident or untoward situation, call 999 or 112. If you need to contact the police for non-emergencies, dial 101. These numbers are free to call, so don't hesitate to phone for help.

Stay safe!
